My Name is Oscar Gonzalez. I am a Spanish teacher for 7th and 8th grade students. I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I moved to Maryland when I was 3 years old. I then went to College at Barton College in North Carolina. I lived there for 6 years. I got a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Spanish. I then moved to Nebraska and got my Teaching Certificate from UNK.
I grew up surrounded by technology. My dad is a system's engeneer at NASA. He always had computers and new tech toys around the house. He even made me build a computer. Ever since then I have been using PCs. I have played with Macs but never owned one. I use computers and projectors in the classroom all the time. I'm hoping that I can get a SMART board sometime soon. I am using Office 2007 on my school computer.
I started pursueing my master's degee because I wanted a pay increase. But now that I have been working, I've been learning a lot. I didn't realize how much I didn't know about teaching. I am very happy with the amount of information that I've learned in the past year.
Hi Oscar-
ReplyDeleteWelcome to class! I love the photo! It looks like you make learning Spanish FUN! I have a dual endoresment too with degrees in math and French! French was always fun to teach! I love to see the kids become excited as they learn to speak a new language. I am glad you have found the Peru program to be valuable and that you are learning new information. Enjoy the course!

I love the picture. Most of my students are Spanish speaking so I could not even imagine teaching Spanish especially to Junior High students. I think that would be a whole lot of fun. I have also learned a lot from the Peru program. There have been so many things that I did not realize that I did not know. It makes me want to take even more classes once I have finished the program. It seems crazy but after this we are going to only have four classes left. We are going to be finished before you know it.
